Federal disaster loans are available from the U.S. Small Business Administration for homeowners, renters and businesses located in Beaufort, Carteret, Duplin, Hyde and Pitt counties. Those counties recently were added to President Clinton's July 18 disaster declaration in the aftermath of Hurricane Bertha.
Small businesses only - unable to pay bills or meet expenses because of this disaster - located in the contiguous counties of Dare, Edgecombe, Martin, Tyrrell, Washington and Wilson are eligible to apply for economic injury disaster assistance.
Disaster victims are reminded that to be considered for all forms of disaster assistance - including SBA disaster loans - they must first call the Federal Emergency Management Agency teleregistration at 1-800-462-9029.
The application deadline for physical damage loans is Sept. 16, 1996. The deadline for economic injury application is April 18, 1997. by CNB
