HOW LONG TO CLEAN UP THE MESS?

``Change the law or pay up'' (editorial, July 14) is another of the many attacks on the Christian Coalition and CBN that I've seen in The Virginian-Pilot. In an election year, I suppose we will see numerous others.

The same date on the Perspectives page, a column by Cal Thomas, ``Don't drink the water,'' depicts a poison hazard of gross dimension - the National Education Association. This union, with a large income, is also known to not pay taxes. Many other businesses and some hospitals are included in these tax laws.

An additional item of interest that your editorial page had previously recommended is the Motor Voter Act, which our governor objected to but Virginia was forced to accept. Those who are interested in vote fraud should study the article ``Votes for Sale'' in the July 1996 Reader's Digest. The Motor Voter Act should be repealed at the earliest possible date.

How long will it take to ``clean up the mess''? Our national government has monumental tasks ahead!
