CECIL R. HOLLAND

Cecil Rhodes Holland, 85, of Isle of Wight County, died July 25, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center.

Mr. Holland retired as supervisor of Maintenance Way Department in 1976 after 43 years with Virginia Railroad, Norfolk and Western and Norfolk and Southern. He was a member of Presbyterian Church of Boaz. He was a life time member of Merherrin Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Louise Holland; four sons, C. Wayne Holland and his wife, Janet N. Holland of Norfolk, Charles E. Holland of Virginia Beach, Cecil R. Holland and his wife, Lyndle B. Holland of Norfolk, and Clifton O. Holland of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Carolease Howell of Suffolk; a brother, Emerson Holland of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He loved hunting, fishing and backyard gardening.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Ernest Trueblood. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. and at the residence at other times.
