Pier anglers along the northern beaches reported mixed results Friday.
On Kitty Hawk Pier, fishermen caught only a few small flounder during the entire day.
Avalon Pier also reported slow fishing, with a few small spot and one keeper flounder taken.
Fairly good numbers of spot, croaker and a few sea mullet were landed from Nags Head Pier during the morning. Spot fishing was steady during the late afternoon.
On Jennette's Pier, spot and croaker fishing was good during the morning. Fishing was slow throughout the afternoon.
Fishermen on Outer Banks Pier caught spot, small croakers and a few flounder early in the day. A few croakers, sea mullet and several pompons were landed close to the beach late in the afternoon.
On Hatteras Island, Rodanthe Pier reported good spot and croaker fishing all afternoon.
Spot and croaker were also taken from Avon Pier throughout the day.
Fishing was slow during the morning on Frisco Pier. Lots of small croaker, some mullet and a few sand sharks were docked during the afternoon.
Surf fishing along the northern beaches was fair. Anglers caught small spot, croaker, pigfish and a few keeper flounder.
Some small bottom fish, tailor blues and keeper flounder were landed from both sides of Oregon Inlet.
Fishermen along the beach from Rodanthe to Buxton caught a few bottom fish, tailor blues and pompanos.
At Cape Point, plenty of Spanish mackerel were landed Thursday evening. Several puppy drum, small flounder, little black drum and scattered bottom fish were taken Friday.
A few bottom fish and small blues were landed by surf fishermen along the beach from Frisco to Hatteras Inlet. Flounder fishing was good in the ferry boat channel.
Good numbers of bluefish and some Spanish mackerel were taken by fishermen trolling the inshore waters around Oregon Inlet.
Gulf Stream charters east of Oregon Inlet landed a few tuna, dolphin and wahoo. A dozen billfish were released around the 40900 Loran line. Seas offshore were fairly rough.
Most boats remained at the dock in Hatteras, except for the Eagle, which landed a couple of wahoo, dolphin and tuna.
The water temperature of the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck was 67 degrees Friday.
The water temperature of Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island was 79 degrees. by CNB
