THELMA H. CULPEPPER

Thelma Hackel Culpepper, 92, of the 8200 block of Buffalo Ave., died Friday, July 26, 1996, in a local hospital.

A native of Baltimore County, Md., she was the widow of William A. Culpepper. She was a former officer manager of Marine Salvage Co. and retired pastor's secretary of Talbot Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Culpepper was a charter member of Talbot Park Baptist Church. She was a member and senior past matron of Ocean View Chapter No. 34, Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Mace Court No.9, Order of the Amaranth.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia C. Powell and her husband, Floyd H. Powell Jr. of Norfolk; a son, Martin Albert Culpepper of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren, Amy-Lynn Morgan and her husband, John, of Chesapeake, Wendy Patton and her husband, John, of Norfolk, F. Henly Powell III of Virginia Beach, William Culpepper of El Paso, Beth Ann Edwards of Texas; three great-grandchildren, Abbey Morgan, Justin Patton, both of Norfolk, and Ryan Edwards of Texas.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Talbot Park Baptist Church by the Rev. W. Thomas Wood. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Dodge-Powell Scholarship Fund of the Order of the Eastern Star, P.O. Box 6633, Richmond, Va. 23230. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
