Claude William Bailey, 71, died July 27, 1996, at his residence.
He retired in 1986 after 35 years as a lead mechanic at Planter's Peanuts. He was the widower of Barbara U. Bailey, a member of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church and a past deacon of the church.
Mr. Bailey is survived by a daughter, Deborah A. Bailey of Michigan City, Ind.; a son, William A. Bailey and his wife, Michelina; and two grandchildren, Robert J. and Jullee-Ann Bailey of Franklin, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Ruffin A. Alphin and the Rev. Mark Youndt will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the church's building fund, 312 E. Constance Road, Suffolk, Va. 23434.
