CHESAPEAKE - Eleanor Overman Mayo, 81, of the 2200 block of Delwood Road, died July 29, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mrs. Mayo, a native of Portsmouth, was the widow of Nathanial G. Mayo. She was a retired registered nurse for Dr. Lemuel E. Mayo. She was a member of Park View Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Parrish Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Portsmouth, and a member of Portsmouth Medical Assistants Association, and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Gayle Lee Mayo of Chesapeake, James Mayo of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
