Hearshel Levon ``Von'' Sawyer, 63, of the 3500 block of Pamlico Circle, died July 28, 1996, at his home.
Mr. Sawyer was born in Lynn, Ark. He had lived in Norfolk since 1947. He was employed by Virginia Sheet Metal and Roofing for 30 years and retired as shop foreman from Minton and Roberson in 1992.
He was the son of Robert Cleve and Effie Smith Sawyer. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Sue Sawyer; a daughter, Sharon and her husband, Mark Wilkins; two sons, Michael and his wife, Sandy Sawyer, and Lester Sawyer; seven grandchildren, Holley, Kevin, Katie, Crystal, and Jennifer Sawyer, Stephanie and Morgan Wilkins; two brothers, Paul Edward Sawyer of Virginia Beach, Guthrie Sawyer of Norfolk; a sister, Shirley Watson of Riverside, Fla.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. J. Mark Pullen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
