Frances Ballard Jones, 88, of the 1600 block of Old Donation Parkway, died July 28, 1996.
Mrs. Jones, the widow of Floyd R. Jones Sr., had retired after teaching music at James Hurst Elementary School. She was a native of Portsmouth and a member of Baylake United Methodist Church and choir director at Cradock Baptist Church. She was past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star Victory Chapter (NU)16; past president of Cradock Music Club, Cradock Women's Club, Portsmouth Pilot Club, and Ocean Park Women's Club. She was a graduate of Blackstone College.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Jones Janezeck of Virginia Beach; a son, Floyd R. Jones Jr. of Richmond; four grandsons; and a great-grandson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Amy Daniels in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters or to a charity of one's choice. An Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at the graveside.
