Ursula Fairfax Harrison Biddle died unexpectedly in her home on July 23, 1996.

Born March 12, 1937, in Manila, Philippines, Ursula was the daughter of Doria Lee and Francis Burton Harrison. Her father was a former U.S. congressman and governor general of the Phillipines. She was the granddaughter of Burton Harrison who was the secretary of the Confederacy under Jefferson Davis. She attended the Sanford School in Wilmington, Del., and graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., in 1959. Ursula was a member of Radnor Friends Meeting in Radnor, Pa.

A devoted mother and friend of animals, Ursula is survived by a brother, sister and five children, including a daughter, Elisabeth B. Martin-Gayle of Virginia Beach, who serves as director of development for the Virginia Beach SPCA.

Memorial services were held on Friday, July 26. A private burial will be held in Alexandria, Va., today. Her children ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a favorite charity.
