Police were called to the 3300 block of Clubhouse Road in the Princess Anne Plaza section at 3:05 p.m. when they received a call about a 16-year-old female suffering from a serious gunshot wound, Carey said. The girl, who was shot in her chest, was taken to Virginia Beach General Hospital, where she was listed Monday night in critical condition.
The boy, described as an acquaintance, was taken into police custody as a result of the investigation at the scene of the shooting, Carey said.
A .25-caliber, semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the home, Carey said.
The boy was charged with unlawful wounding, reckless handling of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a juvenile. He was being held at Tidewater Detention Home without bond and was scheduled to appear in Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court today.
