MICHAEL GREENWOOD, CITY TRAFFIC ENGINEER

Michael Greenwood will chat with most anyone about anything. But there's one thing he's a little shy about divulging - his occupation.

Doing so almost always results in an hourlong talk about this traffic signal or that sign. Nevertheless, Greenwood always takes the time to explain the do's and don'ts of traffic engineering decisions.

In the office or out playing golf in the morning, softball in the evening or skiing in the winter months, Greenwood, a former champion wrestler, knows how to be a good sport.

Full name: Robert ``Michael'' Greenwood.

Hometown: Las Vegas, Nev.

What brought you to the Beach? Gainful employment.

Birthdate: Nov. 3, 1960.

Occupation: Professional engineer.

Nickname: Greenie.

Marital status: Single.

Children: None, I'm all the kid I can handle.

What is your idea of a perfect day off? Golf in the morning, softball in the evening topped off with a late night dinner.

Last smart thing you did: Replaced 8-year-old skis with new top of the line skis.

Last dumb thing you did: Tore up my knee the same day I purchased the new skis.

Favorite song: ``Turn the Page,'' by Bob Seeger.

Last book read: ``Hunt for Red October,'' by Tom Clancy.

Hobbies: Skiing, softball, golf, biking, beach volleyball, etc.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? It's been said that good things come in small packages, but I'd rather be 4 inches taller.

If you could change one thing about your spouse, what would it be? She is perfect just the way she is. (Whoever or wherever she is?)

Secret vice: It wouldn't be a secret if I told.

Favorite restaurant: Tautogs.

Your favorite night on the town: Bar hopping on bikes with friends at the Oceanfront.

Favorite TV shows: Biography, investigative reports and documentaries.

Favorite sport: Beach volleyball and free style wrestling.

Last vacation: I'm on vacation now - at the Olympics in Atlanta.

Pets: None.

Worst job: Landscaping when I was in college.

Of what achievements are you most proud? Winning high school state championship in wrestling, graduating from Virginia Military Institute and earning my professional engineer's license.

What would you like as your epitaph? Undecided. ILLUSTRATION: Staff photo by CHARLIE MEADS
