PETA EDUCATES

Regarding ``Respect all animals'' (letter, July 19):

PETA is a nonviolent activist organization committed to protecting the rights of animals - including human animals. PETA works primarily through public education, undercover investigations, animal rescue and peaceful demonstrations - hardly the actions of a ``destructive'' group.

PETA has no intention of forcing its view on anyone. But PETA does believe that if people are to make educated decisions about the products they buy, the foods they eat and the way they live their lives, they need to know about the abuses inflicted on animals in our society.
