LENDELL J. WATERMAN

Lendell J. ``Tommy'' Waterman, 78, of the 600 block of Knotts Island Road, died July 29, 1996, in Virginia Beach.

A native of Knotts Island, he was the widower of Madeline W. Waterman. Mr. Waterman retired as an outside machinist for Norshipco after 44 years of service. He was a member of Knotts Island Ruritan Club and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne W. Oakes of Roxboro, N.C., and Linda W. Weatherly of Uniontown, Ohio; a son, Dale A. Waterman of Knotts Island; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild and an expected great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, at Knotts Island United Methodist Church, Knotts Island, by the Rev. Frank Jennings. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the residence. Burial will be in Knotts Island Cemetery, Knotts Island. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, is handling arrangements.
