Raymond Frederick ``Duke'' Newsome, 64, died July 29, 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Newsome of Scotland Neck, N.C.; one daughter, Cynthia Hodges of Midlothian, Va.; two stepdaughters, Kay B. Bunting and Trudy Braxton, both of Scotland Neck; one son, Duke Allan Newsome of Nashville, Tenn.; his mother, Maude Duke Newsome of Franklin; two brothers, George Newsome of Mechanicsville, and Clyde Newsome of New Jersey; three sisters, Marie Starnauld of Fort Myers, Fla., Mary Betty Smith of Franklin, and Martha Duke Jackson of White Stone, Va.; and five grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Emporia Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Echols Funeral Home, Emporia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scotland Neck, N.C., rescue squad.
