ADMIRALS' SCHEDULE HAS 2 LONG TRIPS SOUTH

The Hampton Roads Admirals have released the road portion of their 70-game regular-season schedule, which includes two long trips to the deep South. The home schedule had previously been released.

After opening at home on Friday, Oct. 18 against Charlotte, the Admirals embark on an 11-day, five-game trip that includes stops at South Carolina, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Pensacola and Charlotte.

In mid-February, during their annual road trip while the circus is at Scope, they travel to South Carolina, Birmingham, Mobile, Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Roanoke.

They play 27 of 35 road games against East Division rivals Richmond, Roanoke, Charlotte, Raleigh, South Carolina and Knoxville. Their furthest trip north takes them to Richmond.

``It's an ideal schedule,'' coach John Brophy said. ``You want to go South in the winter, and the way it's set up, the games won't be too hard to get to.''

While the Admirals won't travel North, all eight North Division teams will come to Scope at least once.

The Admirals have as yet scheduled no exhibitions and none will be played at home because Scope isn't available. The Admirals still have not settled on a training camp site. MEMO: ADMIRALS SCHEDULE - ROAD TRIPS
