VIRGINIA'S only professional choral ensemble will begin its next season with a new name. Its board of directors announced this week that the McCullough Chorale has become the Virginia Chorale.
The name change for the ensemble came after its founder, Don McCullough, became conductor of the Washington, D.C.-based Paul Hill Chorale earlier this year.
The ensemble was begun in 1984 as the Norfolk Pro Musica. It became the Virginia Pro Musica in 1989 and the McCullough Chorale in 1994.
The coming three-program season of six concerts will open Oct. 5 at Norfolk's First Presbyterian Church, under the baton of guest conductor Robert Page.
