Bertha ``Sissy'' Johnson Jones, 76, of the 700 block of Easy Street, died July 26, 1996, in DePaul Medical Center.
A native of Norfolk, Mrs. Jones was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic School. She was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Jones.
She is survived by three sisters-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Thelma Joyner, both of Norfolk, Gladys Johnson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Vincent Hall Sr.; 10 nieces; 11 nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She is also survived by a devoted nephew-in-law, Eddie A. Hughes.
A wake was held Thursday in Hale Funeral Home. There will be a mass of Christian burial today at noon in the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception by the Rev. Father Timothy E. Keeney. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. The procession will begin at 2839 Somme Ave., Norfolk, where the family will later be receiving friends.
