JAMES BREW

James Brew, of the 400 block of Honaker Ave., died July 28, 1996, in Lynnshores Nursing Home.

A native of Campbell County, Va., he retired as a longshoreman for ILA after 35 years service. He was a member of Woodland Avenue Baptist Church, Norfolk, and vice-chairman of the Deacon and Trustee Boards Missionary Society, adult Sunday school class and the Prayer Band.

Survivors include his wife, Alice H. Brew; a sister, Rosa B. Calloway of Lynchburg; a niece, Mary E. Patterson of Lynchburg; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. Serafio Fontanilla. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The body will be in church at 10 a.m. Saturday and the family will be receiving friends at 465 Honaker Ave. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
