Joshua Edward Burton Sr., 85, of the 2700 block of Cedar Road, died at his residence on Wednesday July 31, 1996.
He was born in Millsboro, Del., the son of the late Harry W. Burton and Emma Harmon Burton. He was the husband of Anna Pierce Burton who survives. Mr. Burton was retired from the P.J. Ritter Corp.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Joshua Edward Burton Jr. of Bridgeton, N.J.; four daughters, Elizabeth McGuire of Bridgeton, Yvonne Custis of Bridgeton, Sandra Hagans of Utica, N.Y., Cordelia Hooks of Chesapeake; a sister, Elizabeth Harmons of Newsboro, Del.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at a later date. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
