Mary Louise Davenport, 66, of the 300 block of Snead Fairway, died July 31, 1996, in her residence after a long illness.
A native of Plymouth, N.C., Mrs. Davenport had been a resident of Portsmouth since 1947. She was a charter member of West Side Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis L. Davenport; three daughters, Joy D. and her husband, Robert H. Davis, of Lewisburg, Tenn., Jill D. and her husband, James M. Wunderle of Fort Worth, Texas, Jana D. and her husband, Brian E. Pieroni of Chesapeake; a son, Michael J. and his wife, Vikki G. Davenport, of Yorktown, Va.; four sisters, Frances B. Arnold of Annapolis, Md., Doris B. and her husband, J. Calvin Ellis, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; Saundra B. and her husband, Vance Allen, of Chesapeake, Linda B. and her husband, Lloyd Pitzen, of Chesapeake; a brother, Edgar and his wife, Geraldine Bateman of Plymouth; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Brenda D. Johnston of Norfolk; a stepson, Dennis Davenport and his wife, Rose, of Houston, Texas.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in West Side Christian Church by the Rev. Dick Laslo. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the church or the Wellspring Hospice program at Maryview Hospital.
