John Thomas Lacy, 82, formerly of Prindle Court, died Aug. 2, 1996, in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Mr. Lacy, a native of Maryville, Tenn., was the widower of Dulcie Parker Lacy. He retired from the U.S. Navy and the Department of Highways and Transportation as the Elizabeth River Tunnel sergeant after 21 years of service. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church and charter member of America-Fellowship Lodge (NU)148 A.F.&A.M. He was also a member of Fleet Reserve Association (NU)40, Chesapeake, and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a niece, Doris N. Bryant, and her husband, Wilbur, of Rocky Mount; two nephews, Joe M. Nelms, and his wife, Deborah, of Rocky Mount, Winston Parker, and his wife, Vickie, of Portsmouth.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Terry L. Riddle in Olive Branch Cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Grove Park Baptist Church.
