Willie Mae Slade, of the 1200 block of Coltrane Drive, died July 31, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Slade, a native of Norfolk, was a food service worker at Lakeview Elementary School and the Portsmouth School System for 15 years. She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church and the American Bowling Council.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Lee Slade Sr.; three daughters, Renee S. Cuffee of Portsmouth, Sharon D. Scott of Davenport, Iowa, and Sheryl S. Smith of Norfolk; two sons, Vernon Lee Slade Jr. of Portsmouth, Jermain Slade of California; two sisters, Shirley Moyler and Joanne Horn; five brothers, Edward Jr., Donald, Joseph, Clinton, and Roland Hall; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Spencer Hoppaldt in Rising Star Baptist Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is in charge. Friends may join the family at the residence.
