Christopher Maurice ``Chris'' Benton, 29, of the 500 block of General Booth Blvd., died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mr. Benton was born in Virginia Beach and was the son of Vivian Smith of Suffolk and Raymond D. Benton Sr. of Chesapeake. He was a business partner with Creative Colors custom painting and wallpapering.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his two brothers, Raymond D. Benton Jr. of Maryland and Kevin M. Benton of Virginia Beach; his maternal grandparents, Joe R. and Anna Benton, also of Suffolk; his business partner, Jeff Childress and his extended family, Nan, Woody and Amy Smith.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Virginia Beach Christian Church. Dr. William Austin and the Rev. Douglas Ross will officiate. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
