JAMES N. SAVEDGE SR.

James Nicholas Savedge Sr., 82, died Aug. 4. 1996.

He was born in Wakefield and was a son of the late William H. and Nell Chappell Savedge. Mr. Savedge was the chairman and president emeritus of The Bank of Sussex and Surry and a former Mayor of the Town of Wakefield. He was an alumnus of William & Mary College, Class of 1936.

Surviving are his wife, Fay Bryant Savedge; a daughter, Catherine Savedge Schlesinger of Williamsburg; a son, William B. Savedge of Wakefield; and a granddaughter, Anne Chappell Savedge of Buckingham. He was predeceased by a son, James N. Savedge, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the graveside in Wakefield Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tidewater Academy Endowment Fund or the Virginia Affiliate, American Diabetes Association. Mr. Savedge's family is being served by the Petersburg chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son, Funeral Homes.
