At least 26 community groups tonight will mark National Night Out, an anti-crime celebration.
All have asked for McGruff the Crime Dog, the mascot of crime prevention, to visit their parties, Chesapeake police said Monday.
Among the celebrations will be two in South Norfolk: A picnic in a vacant lot at 22nd and D Streets and a ``Take Back the Night'' celebration at Lakeside Park.
The picnic will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to the public. Participants should bring their own food. The Lakeside Park celebration begins at 7 p.m. and also is open to the public. Food will be provided.
