When I look at the turn of events within the Republican Party leading up to the August convention, I am exceedingly distressed.
The current candidate seemingly of choice is Bob Dole. He in no way represents me. Even though I admire his service to his country and consider him a war hero, I can in no way condone his selections and omissions of convention speakers.
Susan Molinari is a vivacious, charming young woman, but she is a leader in the abortion movement and has fought for abortion rights! I am not the only one who is offended. Some 60 percent of Bob Dole's delegates are pro-life. Talk about feeling betrayed!
Mr. Dole seems oblivious to the cries of those within the party trying to right the wrongs of abortion. The main problem I perceive with Bob Dole is that he has no strong convictions on the sanctity of life. His wife must agree, judging by her silence.
Our country has become a society of death. We kill our children in the womb, and it is legal up to 9 months. We are moving pell-mell toward legalized killing of the elderly and the infirm. This scares me.
I agree with columnist Cal Thomas that Dole should graciously step aside from the nomination and make room for someone who will better represent family values and morals.
