My husband and I, like many Americans, became engrossed in watching the Olympics, even taping segments so as not to miss these athletic events. We were fortunate enough to have traveled to Atlanta for a few days to witness in person some wonderful Olympic events.
I became extremely upset with the NBC commentator calling the final men's 4x100 relay event. After the American team won the silver medal, he interviewed the team, never congratulating members for their splendid relay but asked if they might have won ``gold'' if Carl Lewis had been part of the team.
Why can't we take pride in our young men and women who participate in the games? They are the finest and most-qualified athletes in America.
We can't win everything; why not be gracious to others and have the dignity to recognize the good in others?
