William C. Flynt, 58, of the 9400 block of Phillip Ave., died Aug. 7, 1996, in VA Hospital, Hampton.
Mr. Flynt, a native of Savannah, Ga., retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer. He also owned Flynt's Marine Electronics. He was a member of American Legion Post 327; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3160; Fleet Reserve Branch 60; and a life member of Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Campbell Flynt; eight children, Searle Flynt, Linda Flynt, Charles Flynt, Suzanne Flynt Savage, Tobi Tobler, Thomas Askey, William Askey, Eve Manion; six siblings, Charles Flynt, Margaret Flynt, Annie Laurie La Bayne, Lillian Crawford, Marie Grier and Eleanor Case; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Grandy Flynt and Annie L. Cushing Flynt.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday by Dr. David Clay in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., where a fleet reserve service and VFW service will be held at 7 p.m. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside.
