WOMAN TRIES TO BURN UP BROTHER, HOUSE, POLICE SAY

Arson investigators said a woman upset with her brother and her brother's friend tried to burn the men to death in a Haygood Road home early Thursday.

Fire department spokesman Mike Wade said 42-year-old Donna J. Levidy has been charged in connection with a fire set to her brother's bedroom door in a home the two shared in the 5000 block of Haygood Road. Levidy is also accused of trying to set the entire house on fire, Wade said.

Firefighters were sent just after 5:30 a.m. They quickly doused the blaze, which did only minor damage.

Thomas S. Levidy, 38, and 30-year-old Allen D. Finelli escaped by breaking out a window. One man cut his hand, but they were otherwise unharmed, Wade said.

Donna Levidy was charged with arson and two counts of attempted murder, Wade said.

She was being held without bail in the city jail and is scheduled for a hearing today.

Wade said an argument between the brother and sister began late Wednesday and continued into Thursday morning, when the fire was set. by CNB
