Miles Garfield Griffin Sr., 65, of the 1100 block of Craig St., died Aug. 8, 1996.
Mr. Griffin, a native of New Land Township, Elizabeth City, N.C., was a retired auto mechanic from Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, where he worked for 29 and a half years. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Elizabeth City.
Survivors include four daughters, Dora Hawk, Judith Riddick, Terrie Godfrey, Arlethia Walke; four sons, Miles Griffin Jr., Palmer Griffin, Timothy Griffin, Roosevelt Griffin; a sister, Maxine Banks; three brothers, George Griffin, Ervin Griffin, Earl Griffin; and a special friend, Eva Gaint. He was predeceased by his parents, Dora White Griffin and Garfield Griffin; two sisters, Sarah Moore and Virginia Saunders.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Linwood Boone in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Sawyers Cemetery, Elizabeth City. A wake service will be held in Metropolitan Funeral Service today from 6 to 7 p.m.
