James Gilbert Pavey Sr., 76, of the 6400 block of Chesapeake Blvd., died Aug. 8, 1996, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Pavey, a native of Wabash, Ind., was a storekeeper for Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 10 years. He also retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. He was a member of Faith Temple, Virginia Beach, and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila C. Pavey; two daughters, Sheila R. Bradley of Hamstead, Md., Christine Black of Clyde, Ohio; two sons, James Pavey Jr. of Westminster, Md., Wayne Pavey of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. William G. Beagle in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m.
