SAM SHEDRICK

Sam ``Chief'' Shedrick, 58, of the 3300 block of Michelle Court, died Aug. 8, 1996, in his home.

Mr. Shedrick, a native of Edison, Ga., retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 16 years as a marine machinist general foreman. He was also the owner and operater of Shedrick's Cleaning Service for two years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church Pughsville, Suffolk. Mr. Shedrick was a former member and trustee of Camelot Baptist Church, Chesapeake. He was a retired 20-year Navy chief petty officer.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn S. Shedrick; two sons, Aaron B. Shedrick of Chesapeake, and Dominic L. Shedrick of Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Louise Collins, Elise Christian and Carolyn Williams, all of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, Willie Shedrick of Edison, Ga., Charles Shedrick of El Paso, Texas, and Wiley Shedrick of Orlando; a grandson, Marshawn B. Shedrick of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends; his mother and father-in-law, Azzie and Arthur Tumbling of Chesapeake; and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda M. Shedrick of Chesapeake.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. William Russell in New Hope Baptist Church Pughsville. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., with military honors. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The funeral procession will leave the residence, 3313 Michelle Court, Chesapeake, at 4 a.m. Thursday for the burial on Thursday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
