ARCHITECTURE
Donald W. MacLennan was named vice president and director of engineering at The TAF Group in Virginia Beach. He was formerly a senior vice president/engineering manager with Hassell and Folkes in Chesapeake.
Also, Gov. George Allen appointed Oliver P. Farinholt, president of the TAF Group, to the Board of Housing and Community Development. This board establishes state guidelines, regulations and policies to enhance community development, to provide affordable housing opportunities and to ensure the safety of the built environment.
BANKING
Diane W. McKinnon was named vice president and retail banking executive for Cenit Bank. Her duties are managing retail sales and business development in the Chesapeake and Portsmouth market. She was a senior vice president/regional manager of the trust and financial services group for a major commercial bank.
DIRECT SALES
Turk Schonert was named national sales manager at AmeriComm Direct Marketing in Norfolk. Schonert was a former quarterback coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
ENGINEERING
Brian D. Lewis was named a water resources engineer for the water resources division at SDN in Hampton. He was formerly with Hassell and Folkes in Chesapeake and Espey, Huston and Associates in Newport News. And, Ved P. Malhotra was named director of the water resources division at the company. He will be responsible for all aspects of water resources engineering. He has been with SDN since 1989.
Dallas Wolf was named vice president for field services at Frontier Engineering in Norfolk. He was previously the vice president for business development for Digital Systems Research Inc., San Diego, Calif.
INSURANCE
S.L. Nusbaum Insurance Agency Inc. in Norfolk has made some corporate changes. Bertram S. Nusbaum Jr. was elected chairman of the board; Charles S. Nusbaum, president and Cynthia W. Amick, executive vice president.
MANUFACTURING
Interlock Paving Systems Inc. appointed John A. Winn Jr. to vice president manufacturing and operations and James L. Hassell Jr. to vice president sales and marketing.
MEDIA
Bill Turner was named manager of marketing and media research at International Family Entertainment, Virginia Beach. He was previously senior research analyst with IFE's corporate research group.
Scott Sanders, previously general sales manager at WTVZ-TV, was named general manager. Jeff York was named research director at WTVZ. York was previously research director for WDIV in Detroit.
ORGANIZATIONS Dr. David Lotz was elected president of The Tidewater Optometric Society. Lotz, who served as vice president of the society last year, has a practice in Suffolk. Also, the society has chosen Dr. William Waldron as the new vice president. He practices in Newport News.
The Virginia chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association elected Jody L. Elliott, reimbursement/cost manager for Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, president elect. The organization also elected Margaret M. Thompson and David W. Marino as directors. Thompson is controller of Chesapeake General Hospital and Marino is director of patient accounts at the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters.
REAL ESTATE
Peter Abraham, Charles Wilson and Bill Hudgins were named senior vice presidents at Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate. Abraham provides brokerage and consulting services to a wide variety of corporations and individuals. Wilson heads the company's mortgage lending division and Hudgins focuses on the sales of large industrial and investment properties. He was also recently named managing broker of Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate's Peninsula office.
