JAMES W. CRIDER

James W. Crider, 68, of the 7700 block of Wildwood Drive, died in DePaul Medical Center on Aug. 11, 1996.

Mr. Crider retired from the Navy, after 22 years of service, as a petty officer second class. He then went on to manage the Scott, BP and Crown gas stations in Norfolk. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, the Men's Group at St. Piux X and was a member of Navy Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)60. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brady James and Semmie Valmer Crider.

Mr. Crider was the devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother of his survivors: wife, Betty Sue Crider of Norfolk; one son, Richard J. Crider of Fayetteville, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah L. Liles of Suffolk and Billie J. Cook of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Jerry and Frank Crider, both of Alabama; and three grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Pius X Catholic Church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Celebrating will be the Rev. William Dale. Interment will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.
