RUPERT G. TART

Rupert Graham Tart, 83, of the Village at Woods Edge, died Aug. 10, 1996 in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Tart was a native of Dunn, N.C., and was the son of the late Rupert Gale and Viola Thornton Tart. He was the widower of Glennis Winston Tart. He was a retired pharmacist and former owner and operator of Tart Pharmacy. Mr. Tart attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy. He was a past member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association, the National Association of Retail Druggists and the Tri-County Pharmaceutical Association. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church, where he had been chairman of the Official Board and was a former deacon. He was a member of the Franklin Lions Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Civil T. Archer of Advance, N.C.; a son, Rupert G. ``Bucky'' Tart Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Evelyn T. Struthers of Minneapolis, Minn., and Anna Bell Page of Henderson, N.C.; two brothers, Paul Tart of Kinston, N.C., and William Tart of Dunn, N.C.; four grandchildren, Amy Tart Yates and Page, Kelly and Jenny Archer.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Franklin Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today at the Village at Woods Edge, 1401 N. High St., and suggest that memorials may be made to Franklin Congregational Christian Church, 412 N. High St., Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
