Ava Bessie Hudgins, 91, of the 400 block of Hanbury Ave., died Aug. 11, 1996, in Suffolk.
Born in Gates County, N.C., she was the widow of Willie O. Hudgins and a member of Western Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mary E. Sawyer of Portsmouth; a granddaughter, Brenda H. Meeks of Chesapeake; a great-granddaughter, Crystal R. Meeks of Chesapeake; a great-grandson, Shane H. Meeks of Chesapeake. She was predeceased by her daughter, Bessie Harris.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends at the residence of her granddaughter. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling arrangements.
