Bertie Dixon Jr., 74, died Monday Aug. 12, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mr. Dixon was born in Morehead City and was a retired owner and operator of Bert's Supermarket and retired from the N.C. Dept. of Transportation Ferry Division. He was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God, Cape Hatteras Masonic Lodge (NU)698, Cape Hatteras Anglers Club and was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. Dixon was the son of the late Bertie and Eva Bragg Dixon Sr. and the husband of Elise Peele Dixon.
Besides his wife, surviving are a son, Bertie Dixon III of Deep Creek; a sister, Lorena Hassell of Suffolk; and two grandsons.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Lighthouse Assembly of God by the Rev. Shawn Mizelle and Jim Huskins. Burial will be in the Quidley Cemetery. Twiford Island Chapel, Hatteras, is handling arrangements.
