EDWARD G. GRANT

Edward George Grant, 75, of the 1700 block of Tait Terrace, died with his family by his side on Tuesday Aug. 13, 1996, in his residence.

He was born in Norfolk and was the son of the late George Edward Grant and Kathleen Cuthrell Speidell. He was a warehouse manager in Norfolk for over 40 years. He had been serving as a trustee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for over 20 years.

Mr. Grant was a 40-year member of The Wesleymen of Epworth United Methodist Church, where he was a past president and was serving as class treasurer. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Willis B. Fentress Masonic Lodge No. 296, the National Conference of Bankruptcy Trustees, the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association, and was a former member of the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Executives Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the 12th Armored Division.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Carrie Harrod Grant; a daughter, Donna Grant Odom of Portsmouth; three brothers, Elwood M. Grant of Virginia Beach, Robert L. Grant of El Cajon, Calif., and Lloyd B. Grant of Long Island, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday by Dr. John P. Mason and Judge Hal J. Bonney Jr. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund of The Wesleymen, 408 Boush St., Norfolk 23510.
