JERRY E. COOPER JR.

Jerry E. ``Big Baby'' Cooper Jr., of the 800 block of Townsend Place, went home to be with the Lord Aug. 10, 1996, in a local hospital.

He was born in Norfolk, Va., to Mrs. Alice B. Cooper and the late Jerry E. Cooper Sr. He was retired as a dental techinician and proprietor of Jerry's Collegiate Barber Shop. He was a member of the Garden of Prayer Temple C.O.G.I.C.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Alease Spruill Cooper; his mother, Mrs. Alice B. Cooper; grandmother, Mrs. Janie B. Roberts; brother and wife, Joseph L. and Barbara Cooper; three sisters, Janie Cooper Jordan and William Jordan Sr., Alice Cooper Joyner, widow, Barbara Cooper Randolph and Adam Melvin Randolph Sr.; nieces and nephews, William Howard Jordan Jr. and Eleanor, Rodney A. Jordan and Paula, Karen Cooper Hall, Janie Cooper, Kim Cooper, Kevin Cooper, Adam Melvin Randolph Jr., Barry E. Randolph, Krystal M. Randolph, and Kelly M. Randolph; uncle, Nathaniel Cooper of Waverly; two aunts, Mrs. Annie Inez Diggs, and Mrs. Rosa Lee Butts; his devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Doris K. Spruill; three brothers-in-law, William Spruill Jr. and Bernice, James M. Spruill, and Roderich Frank Spruill; nieces and nephews, William and Regina Spruill III, Terrance, Darnell Darren, Veronica, James D., Andre Jasmin, and Rashad Spruill; great-niece and nephew, William Spruill IV and Karen Bernice Spruill; great-great-nieces and nephews, Paigh, Dara, Axea, Jabari, Jordan; and an abundance of cousins and friends.

A going home ceremony will be held at the Garden of Prayer Temple C.O.G.I.C., corner of Virginia Beach Boulevard and Church Street, Thursday at 2 p.m. with Bishop L.E. Willis Paster presiding. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hale Funeral Home today from 7 to 8 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at 829 Townsend Place at 1 p.m. the day of the service.
