WALTER A. HENRY

Walter Allen Henry, 69, of the 600 block of Folkstone Way, died Aug. 12, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Henry, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., was a line coordinator with New York Telephone Co. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. He was president of Wyslen Forest Civic League. He served during World War II and the Korean War. He was coordinator of the Police Athlete League Third Precinct and co-founder of Neighborhood Awareness Committee.

Survivors include his wife, Nettie M. Henry; three sons, Nigel Boone of Suffolk, Duncan Boone of St. Albans, N.Y., Miles Henry of Virginia Beach; a brother, Pierrie Henry of Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren; aunt, Vivian Jones of Miami; mother-in-law, Lessie Shambry of Gatesville, N.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Dr. C.K. Jones in Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The remains will be ready for viewing Thursday at 3 p.m. The family will assemble at the residence at 10 a.m. for the procession. The remains will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home is in charge.
