Norfolk Tides relief pitcher Derek Wallace was called up by the New York Mets Tuesday after starting pitcher Jason Isringhausen was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an arm injury.
Wallace was building on a Tides single-season record for saves with 26 and had a 1.72 earned run average and 5-2 record.
To fill Wallace's roster spot, the Tides called up 23-year-old Mike Welch, who was 4-2 with 27 saves and a 4.59 earned run average while with Double-A Binghamton. by CNB
