QUEENIE M. UMPHLETT

Queenie Bell Meads Umphlett, 89, of the 200 block of W. Hanbury Road, died Aug. 13, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

She was born in Weeksville, N.C., on Dec. 31, 1996. She was the daughter of the late John I. and Jennie M. Meads and the wife of the late Charles Edward ``Eddie'' Umphlett. She was a homemaker and retired office clerk, and a member of Great Bridge Evangelical Free Church.

Mrs. Umphlett is survived by a sister, Marie M. Davenport and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Williams Meads of Chesapeake, Fred Meads and Bradley Meads, both of Portsmouth, and Elwood Meads of Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery with the Pastor Jim Hunnewell officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the home of her sister, Mrs. Marie Davenport, 236 W. Hanbury Road, Chesapeake. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Assoc., (NU)20 Koger Center, suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502. Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, is handling all arrangements.
