REGENT LAW SCHOOL ``SOLD ITS BIRTHRIGHT''

As a graduate of Regent University's School of Law, I have mixed feelings concerning Pat Robertson's announcement that the law school has received full accreditation from the American Bar Association. While it is true that Regent graduates will now be able to sit for the bar examination in all 50 states, the cost in compromise that those overseeing the university have had to make to appease the ABA may be too great.

Regent is no longer a school guided by biblical principles. In fact, aside from the steadfastness of an all-too-small number of godly professors, the Bible now plays little, if any, part in a student's education at Regent. This abandonment of the word of God in favor of the traditions of men caused one of the godly professors to choose to no longer interview students, fearing he might inadvertently deceive them into thinking they will receive a Christian education at Regent.

From the firing of former Dean Titus because of his insistence on the Bible as the jurisprudential foundation to the elimination of class worship time, to the adoption of a race-based affirmative-action program, Regent has sold its birthright for a mess of pottage. Dean Happy should not be surprised that the ABA no longer has a problem with this ``Christian'' law school, for this ``Christian'' law school has become indistinguishable from those run by the pagans.
