Edwin R. O'Neal, 57, of the 4600 block of Merrimac Lane, died on Aug. 14, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. O'Neal was born in Philadelphia, Pa., he retired from the USN as a RM 1/E6 and among his commendations he received the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He most recently worked for Chartway F.C.U. as a courier, and is Protestant by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin M. and Lillian O'Neal; and a brother, Robert O'Neal.
Mr. O'Neal is survived by his wife, Isabelle F. O'Neal of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Mrs. Mark ``Kelly'' Fredrickson of Chesapeake; a son, Edwin M. O'Neal; two brothers, Mark and Dale O'Neal; a sister, Patty Schmitt; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with the family and attend the service at the chapel on the Little Creek Amphibious Base, Gate 5 entrance, from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Chaplain Robert D. Evans will be officiating the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
