Ruth Chappell Finch, 75, of 639 Ryland Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 1996, in the Chowan Hospital.
A native of Chowan County, Mrs. Finch was a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Chappell.
She is survived by her husband, Lehman G. Finch; a daughter, Ruth Ann Johnson of Tyner; a son, William Earl Smithwick of Tyner; a brother, Thomas Chappell of Norfolk; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Finch was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Lee Smithwick.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Henry Pillow. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will be receiving friends at the residence. Evans Funeral Home of Edenton is serving the Finch family.
