EVELYN L. BLOCK

Evelyn Levinson Block, 78, of the 6400 block of Auburn Drive, a retired bookkeeper with Block Hardware, died Aug. 15, 1996, in a Chesapeake hospital.

Mrs. Block was a native of Philadelphia and a resident of Tidewater most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Kate Hoffman Levinson.

Mrs. Block was a member of Congregation Beth Chaverim, Va. Beach; the Sisterhood of Temple Israel and Beth El; B'Nai Brith Women and the Hadassah; and she was a founding member of Temple Israel. Mrs. Block was an active volunteer with the resident council of Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia.

Survivors include her husband, Abraham A. Block of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Kathy Block Rafal of Virginia Beach; and four grandchildren, Amy Rafal Moore, Lauren, Jessica and Cari Rafal.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Israel Zoberman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Beth Chaverim or the Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, will be handling the arrangements.
