Visitors and residents of the Outer Banks will be able to increase their awareness of the rapidly changing weather conditions of this area with the help of a new weather monitoring station recently installed at the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo.
The weather station is mounted on the roof of the aquarium and is part of the WITN-TV Channel 7 PinPoint Weather Network. Reporting stations are located throughout eastern North Carolina. The data is gathered and stored 24 hours a day, and is part of a regular feature by WITN-7, an NBC affiliate in Washington, N.C., that brings its viewers weather conditions as they occur from reporting stations in this region.
Visitors to the aquarium will soon be able to see this up-to-the-second weather information on display.
``We are going to feed the information from the weather station to a computer that will be located in our exhibits area, and our visitors will be able to see the current weather information such as air temperature, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, wind chill, and much more. This information will be very useful during periods of severe weather,'' said Joe Malat, the aquarium's Exhibits Curator. by CNB
