Betty Jean Burks of the 800 block of Pollard Street died Aug. 14, 1996, in St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond.
She was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Robert E. Burks. She was a member of First Baptist Church Lambert's Point and a Cathedral Choir member.
She is survived by two daughters, Angela Burks of Richmond and Pamela Rose of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Ruby Harris of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Annanias Jr., and Joshua Rose, all of San Diego; a son-in-law; Annanias Rose Sr. of San Diego; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. Anthony Paige at First Baptist Church Lambert's Point. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The remains will be ready for viewing today at 3 p.m. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at the Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, at 11 a.m. for the procession.
