Walter M. Fields Jr., 76, of 19337 Ivor Road, died Aug. 17, 1996.
A native of Courtland, he was a retired machinist of Franklin Concrete Co. after 37 years of service. Mr. Fields was a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Luke United Church of Christ, Sedley, Va. Also he earned a Bronze Star during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred S. Fields of Courtland; two daughters, Alice Annette Fields of Newport News and Barbara Diann Savage of Philadelphia, Pa.; a son, Glenn M. Fields of Hampton; a daughter-in-law, Felita Fields; four sisters, Nannie Brodnax, Anne Lee Smith, Agnes Bryant and Ruby Eley. He was predeceased by his parents, Jane Fields and Walter Fields Sr.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in St. Luke United Church of Christ, Sedley, by the Rev. Joseph J. Ferguson. Burial will be in Ricks Family Cemetery, Courtland. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home, Franklin, is handling arrangements.
